About this graveyard
Ileigh is the older of the two graveyards of Glenkeen civil parish. Among its stones are those of four local men of the revolutionary period — Michael Small (Micheál Ó Beagáin) of Gortnacrannagh, killed in the War of Independence in 1920, and Patrick Russell, Frederick Burke and Martin O'Shea, executed at Roscrea in January 1923 — together with several nineteenth-century clergy of Glenkeen. Many of the families recorded here are of Borrisoleigh and the surrounding townlands. (Graveyard location is approximate and may be refined.)
