The burial ground that served Nenagh through the second half of the twentieth century, opened in 1957 and still in use — its gate pillar cast with the Irish name Roiliġ Muire.

About this graveyard
Lisboney New Cemetery — Roiliġ Muire, the name cast in Gaelic script on its gate pillar — lies in the townland and civil parish of Lisbunny (Lios Buinne) in the barony of Lower Ormond, about a kilometre east of Nenagh on the old Dublin road, now the R445. It stands immediately beside the medieval graveyard on the site of the old parish church, which was recorded in the ecclesiastical taxation of the Diocese of Killaloe in 1302 and stood a ruin by 1615.
The first burial in the new ground took place in 1957, and it has served the town ever since; it is maintained by Tipperary County Council through the Nenagh Municipal District. By 2015 it was close to capacity, and the adjoining lawn cemetery was opened to take the overflow.
The ground is still in use. Every record here was made from photographs of the stones themselves, and a number of the most recent graves carry only an oak cross or an undertaker's plaque, the headstone not yet raised.
