Terryglass Church of Ireland
The old graveyard on the southern outskirts of Terryglass, Barony of Lower Ormond, Co. Tipperary, holding a small former Church of Ireland church. Terryglass was the site of one of the most famous early-Christian Irish monasteries, founded by St. Colm MacCremthainn (d. 549). Over 200 headstones, the oldest to Thomas Cleary (1741), with many from the middle and late 1700s.

History
About this graveyard
Terryglass was the site of one of the most famous Irish monasteries of the early centuries of Irish Christianity, founded by St. Colm MacCremthainn who died in 549. The monastery was burnt in 806, 845 and lastly 1164, after which it was replaced by a simple parish church of the Diocese of Killaloe; nothing of the monastic buildings now remains, and the castle at Old Court was built by John Marshall early in the 13th century. This ground is the old graveyard on the southern outskirts of the town, in very good condition, containing a small Church of Ireland church building (since sold for other purposes). Over 200 headstones were copied, the oldest to Thomas Cleary (1741) and many dating from the middle and late 1700s and early 1800s. Recorded by Denise Foulkes for the Ormond Historical Society's survey of the Barony of Lower Ormond (Section A, Volume 12), published 1985.
