Celer et Audax. In memory of Colonel Webb Butler, late Commanding Second Battalion King's Royal 60th Rifles, in which corps he served over 30 years, who died at Hermitage in this Parish on 29th August 1890 aged 74 years. This tablet has been placed here as a tribute to his worth and a testimony of the regard and esteem in which he was held by the inhabitants of this Parish and by a number of Civil and military friends to whom he had endeared himself by his honourable upright, generous and kindly disposition.
