Congar Church of Ireland
A small, well-kept graveyard surrounding the former Church of Ireland church of Ardcrone, on the Ardcroney→Borrisokane road, Barony of Lower Ormond, Co. Tipperary. Twenty-three headstones, together with memorials within the church — mainly to the Falkiner family of Mount Falcon — and some unusual brass memorials.

About this graveyard
This graveyard surrounds the (former) Church of Ireland church of Ardcrone and lies on the right-hand side of the main Ardcroney to Borrisokane road. It is a small, well-kept ground of 23 headstones, all copied. Within the church are a number of memorials — mainly to the Falkiner family of Mount Falcon, including Sir Frederick Richard Falkiner, Recorder of Dublin, and the civil engineer Travers Hartley Falkiner — together with some unusual brass memorials and a stained-glass window. Recorded by Denise Foulkes and Daniel Grace for the Ormond Historical Society's survey of the Barony of Lower Ormond (Section A, Volume 9), published 1984.

In loving memory of Travers Hartley Falkiner, Civil Engineer. Born July 1829, died Oct 1897. Good son, good brother, good friend. In a long and earnest life he was engaged in the construction of many public works at home and abroad, including the M.G.W. main line, its Sligo, Liffey, Galway and Clifden and Ballina and Killala branches. The railways from Zurich to Coire Switzerland, Didcot to Winchester England. The Forth Bridge, Scotland. The Rathmines Waterworks, Pembroke Drainage and Drumcondra Link line, Dublin, and the light railways Headfort to Kenmare and Killorglin to Waterville in Kerry. A loving relative, a generous and considerate employer, he had the affection of all his many friends and the confidence and respect of all who served him. 'Father in Thy gracious keeping, leave we now Thy servant sleeping.'

Loving, faithful, gentle, beloved, when I wake up after Thy likeness I shall be satisfied. Also of Richard Travers, eldest and only surviving son of the above Richard and Georgina, B.1866. D. 1881. Seventh of his name in lineal descent, of high promise, the hope of his family; he was taken to God in the flower of his boyhood to the inexpressible grief of his sorrowing parents. 'The Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away, Blessed be the name of the Lord.' Also of Tempe, eldest daughter of the above Richard and Georgina. B. 1860. D. 1899. 'Nearer my God to Thee, nearer to Thee, even though it be a Cross that raiseth me.'

Sacred to the memory of Frederick Richard Falkiner, Knt. P.C., K.C. Recorder of Dublin 1876...1905, who died at Madeira 22nd March 1908, aged 72 years. 3rd son of Richard Falkiner of Mount Falcon, D.1833, and Tempe his wife D. 1888. And of Adelaide Matilda, his wife who died in Dublin 2nd June 1877, daughter of Thomas Sadleir of Ballinderry House, buried in the vault adjoining. Also of their two elder sons: Frederick Richard Henry Falkiner, Lieutenant Royal Horse Artillery, drowned at Kirkee, India, 20th April 1888 trying to save a friend, aged 26 years. And Caesar Litton Falkiner, Barrister at Law, assistant legal Commissioner, Irish Land Commission, killed by a fall from a footbridge 5th August 1908 aged 44 years. Erected by the surviving children of the above named Frederick & Adelaide Falkiner A.D. 1910.

In the family vault in the adjacent churchyard lie the mortal remains of Robina Hall Falkiner, born McIntire, the beloved wife of Sir Frederick R. Falkiner, K.C. Recorder of Dublin. She died 14 February 1895. Noblest, truest, tenderest; high souled and yet most humble; in her last long painful illness of three years, she walked down the valley erect and undaunted, utterly trusting in her Lord and Saviour and in adoring hope of the Resurrection through Him.
