In Memory

Neil Murray

1811 · Kenyon Street Graveyard

(Side one) To the memory of Neil Murray, late Ensign and Adjutant, 6th Garrison Battalion. This stone is placed by his brother officers, being a small tribute of their esteem for him as a sincere friend, a worthy and truly honourable man. In him the service has to regret the loss of a brave and valuable officer; and his memory must ever be revered by those who knew him. He departed this life on the 17th day of December 1811 aged 30 years. (Side two) Murray, farewell! Companion true and brave, a random shot consigned thee to this grave; thy laurels won in Egypt flourish here.
